Goonie Bird Greene By: Lois Lowry


It all started when Goonie Bird walked into class. She was wearing green tights, a pink Toto and a white shirt with red polka dots. After a brief introduction, she asked the baffled teacher if she could have a desk right smack in the middle of everything. Day by day Goonie Bird Greene became the center of attention using her adventurous stories in addition to her extraordinary and unique outfits. Her story telling became part of the regular schedule.She even got Felicia Ann (Who never speaks and always looks down.) to speak quite loudly without raising her hand! This story will keep you wondering if her stories are true.

It was the start of an ordinary day. Toby forgot the washing and slept while a gale blew the clothes out to sea, yes it was an ordinary day... Except for the visitors coming from across the sea to enjoy tea and cake and "the Grand" hotel. Only, the grand hotel made a joke out of its name, the paint was peeling and the plush carpets really should have been called flats. Not only did Toby manage to rescue the cook's washing he also happened to meet a mermaid by the name of Eliza Flot. The mysterious sea girl always keeps a watchful eye on humans. Toby being voted most interesting. Sit back and relax as you step into the lonely and poor life of the very forgetful Toby.
